No dress rehearsal
The last blog post that I wrote was 13 days ago… in those 13 days:
- We packed up our house and cut our belongings by roughly 50%
- Our house closed and we became officially “homeless” as well as debt free
- We renewed our wedding vows and commitment to a life of adventure (complete with new rings)
- We left Niagara and headed down to the Dresden area
The pace has been rapid over the last couple of weeks prior to our departure. Even though I thought I did plenty of planning and preparation – it has not occurred as enough… I’m not even sure what enough would look like. Marcus and I just spent the past 3 hours out in my Mother’s garage trying to make sure that all of our bags are within weight limits and triple checking that all of our must haves are packed. In roughly 24 hours, we will be heading down the runway at Toronto Airport on the first leg of our trip.
I can’t tell you how much I’d love to be sharing something profound and inspirational with you right now… but my brain seems to be filled past it’s brim with painfully boring minutia (“What time does the bank open? Is there enough room for Pikachu in Artie’s back pack?)… and I’m pretty much spent. And yes – life is like this sometimes… sometimes this is what life looks like when it is working… it is a mass of boring – but necessary details and the only narrative that weaves them together is “This sh** needs to get done”.
So I’ll sign off from my mother’s living room for now. Next time I sit down to write (God Willing) it will be from somewhere in South East Asia… Keep us in your prayers till then 🙂
